BMD celebrates key milestones

BMD enters 2013 with momentum generated through last quarter’s success, enabling the delivery of several projects ahead of schedule and the celebration of a range of notable milestones. BMD achieved a solid wrap up of projects across the resources and energy, transport and infrastructure and the urban development industry. In January, the Victorian Minister for Major Projects, Hon Denis Napthine MP and Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Infrastructure and Transport (and Federal Member for Ballarat) Catherine King officially opened the $20 million 8.1 kilometre section of the Western Highway Duplication project in Victoria. Notably, the Material Offloading Facility in Gladstone and Caval Ridge project in Moranbah were both delivered ahead of schedule and collectively achieved over 425,000 hours LTI free. One month ahead of schedule, saw the largest bridge on the Cairns Bruce Highway Upgrade project complete installation of the 42 deck units, which will eventually enable free flowing traffic to pass over Ray Jones Drive. This is a significant milestone for the $150 million project which has over 85% of the construction value invested locally. Late last quarter, New South Wales celebrated the opening of the Epping Road Bridge that now provides a safer access for local residents across Epping Road. The Port of Brisbane Motorway upgrade is fast approaching completion with nearly all new infrastructure opened to traffic. The project, which has improved the connection between the Gateway Motorway and the Port of Brisbane, has also delivered many benefits to local motorists with the inclusion of five new signalised intersections adjoining the motorway. Alongside completed projects, our capability continues to be demonstrated through the progression of Hay Point Expansion, Wiggins Island, and Grosvenor projects in North Queensland and defence works in South Australia. As part of the Geebung Overpass (GO) Alliance, BMD Constructions, along with Brisbane City Council and SMEC Australia started work on the Robinson Road Open Level Crossing Replacement late last year. The GO Alliance is anticipated to start early works on site this month. In Darwin, the Zuccoli development recently completed the first stage of construction and sold out the fourth release of thirteen blocks within days of hitting the market. BMD Consulting secured its presence in the Emerald market, with the award of various design packages associated with the airport, development and resources and energy sectors. These projects are spread across Central Queensland in locations including Biloela, Blackwater, Emerald and Moranbah. JMac Constructions have strengthened their presence in Victoria through the upcoming completion of several projects including Lake Hamilton All Abilities Playground, Melba Park Stage One and Mandalay Stage 5 Reserve. BMD has a diverse range of jobs forecasted for the year ahead including urban development, industrial and major road projects, with the capacity, resources and national reach to capitalise on emerging opportunities. ______________________________________________________________________________
