BMD Constructions awarded key road infrastructure in the nation’s capital
BMD Constructions has recently been awarded the Ashley Drive Upgrade Stage 2 project in the nation’s capital. Ashley Drive is an arterial road located in Canberra’s south and provides an important link between the suburbs of Richardson and Wanniassa. The road which is currently a single carriageway carrying more than 20,000 vehicles per day, will be upgraded to a dual carriageway in order to ease congestion, remove excessive queuing and delays, and increase safety by decreasing crash risk at intersections including Statton Street, Bugden Avenue and Clift Crescent. BMD’s scope of works involves duplication of the carriageway between Erindale Drive and Ellerston Avenue, provision of on-road cycle lanes, reinstatement of existing shared paths, installation of new utility services including street lighting and traffic signals, construction of stormwater drainage, pedestrian underpasses, and a new road bridge over Monks Creek, and carrier upgrades on the existing road bridges across Tuggeranong and Monks Creek as well as the underpasses north of Statton Street and Bugden Avenue. The key road infrastructure project for the ACT Government will begin in October this year and is expected to be completed late 2017.
