BMD partners with Queensland Rugby League to sponsor women’s premiership
BMD has assumed the naming rights of the Queensland Rugby League (QRL) statewide women’s competition for a three-year term. BMD has also been announced as an Official Partner of the Harvey Norman Queensland Maroons, and a supporting partner of the QRL’s Indigenous Round. BMD Group Director and Chief Executive Officer Scott Power said the BMD Group is thrilled to support the rugby league competition and its aspiring participants. “At BMD, we believe in the value that different perspectives can add to productivity, innovation, and high performing teams. BMD is proud to be partnering with QRL and fully support them in their strategy to increase participation and engagement in female rugby league,” Power said. With construction identified as Australia’s most male dominated industry, BMD recognises the necessity for businesses like ours to actively work towards increasing female representation by attracting and retaining women. Our female employee representation continues to sit above industry standard, now at 17.1%. Last year, BMD established a Women@BMD working group who meet monthly to make progressive actions in creating a positive culture for women. To make real and meaningful changes, this group continues to investigate the barriers that exist and invest in the improvements needed to attract and retain high performing women, particularly in senior roles. “The inclusion of women in the engineering and construction industry remains a key focus for our business, so we feel that this partnership with QRLW is a fantastic alignment of our shared vision and objective to improve participation and pathways for women in our respective industries, both of which are currently underrepresented.”
