Construction of renewable energy facilities to power Australia’s future
In the face of a growing population and demand for energy, Australia continues to look to renewable energy to assist with traditional methods of powering communities. Australian Energy Market Operator’s recent release of its 2020 Integrated System Plan has forecast the need for over 31GW of solar and wind farms and a further 19GW of pumped hydro and battery storage, equating to well over $60 billion of projects over the next 20 years. BMD’s multi-disciplinary industrial division is a trusted partner in the transformation of Australia’s electricity sector, having proven capabilities in the delivery of solar, wind, battery storage, cogeneration and biomass projects. With renewables and clean energy solutions leading infrastructure advancement, BMD has delivered Australia’s first integrated utility-scale solar and storage grid connected facility in Lakeland, North Queensland, a solar plant at Daly River in the Northern Territory, and a wind farm in Crookwell NSW. BMD Industrial’s Senior Project Manager, Shaun Curran said BMD are also poised to take advantage of emerging opportunities including hydrogen, waste to energy, solar thermal and electric vehicle infrastructure. “Renewables are a win-win for the environment and the economy. Solar and wind technologies provide clean electricity for a safe climate, and the investment in their construction stimulates jobs in a time where our economy needs it most. “BMD is currently tendering over $3 billion of renewable energy and electrical vehicle projects in Queensland alone,” says Shaun. As an Australian owned contractor, BMD provides job opportunities for local subcontractors and suppliers in the communities in which we operate. Our reputation for employing locally, combined with our experience in the delivery of wind and solar energy projects, makes us the right fit to deliver the emerging opportunities to power Australia.
