Moncrieff Estate Stage 1 and 5 achieves major safety milestone
The BMD Constructions’ ACT team has reached a major safety milestone, achieving 100,000 hours Lost Time Injury (LTI) free at the Moncrieff Estate Stage 1 and 5 project sites. The project, which began in September 2014, has developed a strong safety culture and was the first project in the NSW/ACT region to embrace the ‘Switch-On For Work’ program. The program encourages project teams to ‘switch-on’ both physically and mentally prior to starting daily work duties. Techniques to promote this include morning stretches and warm ups as well as regular site visits from physiotherapists who assess work duties and provide advice on safe practices. BMD Constructions’ Construction Manager ACT, Justin Devantier said, “The Moncrieff project is a great example of BMD’s ongoing commitment to our people and our goal of Zero Harm.” The project is currently ahead of schedule and the team is exceeding quality and budget expectations. “This milestone demonstrates that excellent safety performance can be achieved without compromising performance expectations,” Mr Devantier said. This significant milestone builds on the outstanding safety performance achieved across multiple BMD project sites in recent times.
