New motorway lanes open to Port of Brisbane
The BMD Seymour Whyte Joint Venture opened three kilometres of new motorway to the Port of Brisbane on Monday 24 September 2012. The opening of three kilometres of new motorway lanes between Lindum Road and Port Drive includes the new Pritchard Street overpass, entry and exit points to the motorway and two sets of traffic signals on local roads. The current road was to reach capacity in 2015 making the delivery of the road upgrade vital. The Port of Brisbane is Australia’s fastest growing container port with more than 83 per cent of all port trade being moved by road. The $385 million Port of Brisbane Motorway upgrade is ahead of schedule and will be a vital piece of infrastructure for Queensland. The refurbishment of existing lanes between Link Road and Lindum Road will continue and the project is on schedule to be complete in 2013. _________________________________________________________________________________
