Scope

The scope of work included:

BMD was engaged to upgrade the mine’s trails disposal, including:

  • upgrade and placement of concrete pipe supports (plinths)
  • upgrade and placement of 15 kilometres of 400 millimetres in diameter, high density polyethylene lined steel pipes.

Outcomes

BMD established a range of innovative methods for pipe handling and placement throughout the project including the use of vac lifts, which resulted in less labour and reduced costs compared to conventional cranes. To combat pipe supports sinking into the wet clay, cement stabilised sand was used, and the solution has since been adopted by the client at other mine sites.

Through the establishment and implementation of a range of innovative methods for pipe handling and placement throughout the project, BMD successfully delivered the project on schedule and to budget.
